Caring for Your Fresh Flowers
At The FlowerCart, we want your flowers to stay fresh and vibrant for as long as possible. Follow these simple steps to ensure your blooms bring beauty and joy for days to come.
Step 1: Prepare Your Vase
Before arranging your flowers, clean your vase thoroughly with soap and water to remove any bacteria. Fill the vase with clean, room-temperature water and add the flower food provided.
Step 2: Trim the Stems
Using a sharp pair of scissors or garden shears, cut 1-2 inches off the stems at a 45-degree angle. Trimming at an angle allows the flowers to absorb water more efficiently. Be sure to remove any leaves that will be submerged in water.
Step 3: Place Flowers in Water Immediately
Arrange your flowers in the vase right after trimming their stems. Keep them away from direct sunlight, drafts, or ripening fruits, as these can shorten their lifespan.
Step 4: Change Water Regularly
Refresh the water in the vase every 2-3 days. Re-cut the stems and clean the vase to prevent bacterial buildup, which can harm your flowers.
Step 5: Keep an Eye on Your Flowers
Remove any wilted or dead flowers to maintain the arrangement's freshness. This also helps prevent the spread of bacteria to the remaining blooms.
Additional Flower Care Tips
- Keep flowers in a cool room to extend their freshness.
- Avoid placing flowers near heating or cooling vents.
- For flowers with woody stems (e.g., roses), gently split the base of the stem to help with water absorption.
